thoughts

Well here again.Last night we had a storm.Had been visiting my aunt and got home about 6:30 and the power was off and did not come on till 8:30.Well I got a taste of what it was like doing without power and started thinking of how people lived in the old days before electricity.Guess that is where the term "Going to bed with the Chickens" came from for guess when it got dark they just went to bed or read by firelight or candlelight. As I was waiting for power I went out on the porch and just listened to the silence and sound of nature.Could hear birds chirping- guess they were saying Goodnight to each other. It was a peaceful sound.how many times do we stop to listen to nature? As dusk was settling in the trees were like sillouettes.I wondered how old they were- how many years they had been there and the stories they could tell if they could talk.I sat in the dark just talking to God- what a peaceful time.no tv-just me and God and sounds of nature.Sitting there alone I thought about how far I have come in life and all the memories I have. Our lives are like books-one chapter ends and another begins.guess I am getting toward the last of the book in my life.We never know how many chapters we have left but I have to say my life has been a good one.I had wonderful parents that loved us and took care of us and have three wonderful brothers. What more can you ask for?I come across so many people who are not close to there families and that is so sad.Our family may not live close together but we are close in heart and I know they are always there.
The sun is out today and I am gonna enjoy it.Have a good day!

Things in General

Well this is my first time blogging so thought I would start out simple till I get my thoughts together and get a good topic.I am sitting here at the rehab hosp in Rock Hill where my aunt is. She has no internet at her house which is driving me crazy!!!Funny how you take things for granted and don't really appreciate them till you have to do without!I remember once when I lived in Mississippi something happened to the well and we had to borrow water from the neighbors.Couldn't take a bath or flush the commode.I have learned to appreciate the simple things of life.Guess some people would say internet is something they could live without but not me once I got used to it!I do also remember when I did not have a computer.I have 3 brothers and they all for years begged me to get a computer but I told them I was too dumb to learn.Well when Daddy died my brother, David, brought his laptop with him and was showing me.I got intrigued with it and on the way back to the airport he gave me the laptop!!!Well guess you know how it went from there.I bought me a desktop, then another laptop and now have an AppleMacbook!!!How's that for someone too dumb to learn?I basically taught my self with the help od the book "Computers for Dummies" and the help of my brothers. At first I was scared to death of the computer- was afraid I was going to blow it up etc.I kept my brother, Frank, busy on the phone asking him questions.I remember once I really thought I had "killed" my computer!Well now am not scared of it anymore and my friends actually call me about their computer questions!!Besides my dogs I guess you know what my second love is!
Well it has been a dreary day here- raining and stormy. My aunt should be going home May 3.I was hoping sooner for I can't wait to get home to my dogs-that will be the subject of another blog.Better go for now.
